Escape into the embrace of the Emerald river.
HIGHLIGHTS
Most people spend far too much time in front of the TV and computer, on their phones or in their cars. Although we are aware that this isn’t a healthy lifestyle, it can be very difficult to find the time and energy to change. We may try to live a healthy life, but in doing so we forget the lack of nature – fresh air, lakes, rivers, streams, mountains, hills, oceans, forests, meadows … Therefore, we invite you to join us for a wonderful nature trip.
Itinerary
The bus will depart at 7am (min 9 people, max 18 people) from Ljubljana or from an agreed place for groups. The journey begins with a drive towards Radovljica and on to Bled. We won’t visit Bled’s main tourist attractions, but we will go to one of the most beautiful vantage points from where there is a beautiful view of Lake Bled and its surroundings. After a short walk around the lake, we will stop for coffee, and enjoy a sweet treat in the form of Bled’s most famous Bled dessert before continuing our journey.
The journey continues with a drive through the Upper Sava Valley, which is known for its many ethnographic gems. It was also described several times by Sir Humphry Davy, an Englishman who spread the word about the beauties of the valley. We will visit the Slovenian Alpine Museum, which is a unique centre of Slovenia’s Alpine and mountaineering world, and take a walk through the permanent exhibition with its inspiring concept titled ‘The path is a story, the story is the path’.
Nearby, beneath one of Slovenia’s most attractive mountains, there are two beautiful waterfalls that we simply must visit along the way. We will visit them on foot then on the way back we will stop at a mountain pasture, where we will be served an excellent and well-deserved lunch.
After lunch we will get back on board the bus to travel to our final stop, which is located in the northern part of Triglav National Park and touches the overgrown forest of Mt. Vitranc. The area was declared a nature reserve in 1992 as it offers a home to many endangered animal and plant species. We will have a short break then go for a coffee in the centre of the Upper Sava Valley, where adventures practically never end. Our last stop before returning home will be at one of the most beautiful lakes in the Upper Sava valley, where one can rest one’s body and mind and organise your thoughts before heading home.
