Itinerary

1. Departure from the main bus station in Ljubljana at 8:00.
2. Arrival in Idrija in the early morning. Discovering the technical heritage under the protection of UNESCO will begin with a visit to a water bike called Idrija kamšt, which is famous as the largest preserved bike of its kind in Europe.
3. Following is a guided tour of Antonijev rov, where we will get acquainted with the mining tradition and get to know the working environment of the Idrija knap.
4. After visiting the underground, we will breathe fresh air, as we will have a pleasant and easy walk with a visit to the water channel called rake, which was used to drain excess water from the mine.
5. Pleasantly tired and hungry, we will have lunch at the Mlinar Inn, where we will try traditional Idrija žlikrofi, zeljševka, ocvirkovca and other traditional local delicacies.
6. After lunch, we will take a look at how the world-famous Idrija lace is made at the Idrija Lace School, where you will also be able to try your hand at making lace.
7. In the authentic mining ambience – in the building of the Frančiška shaft – we will see 29 machines and devices that represent valuable examples of the technical heritage of the Idrija Mercury Mine.
8. The final dinner in Kenda’s mansion follows, where traditional Idrija dishes are complemented by a noble selection of top wines.
9. After dinner transfer to the accommodation.

Itinerary

1. After breakfast we will go cycling to explore the nearby surroundings of Idrija. We will visit the Zgornja Idrijca Landscape Park, where we will listen to the murmur of clear waters, enjoy the bosom of lush forests, get to know rare and protected plants and interesting forest dwellers, see the guided dams and Idrija laup and learn about nature protection.
2. We will stop at the karst siphon Wild Lake, which is also a karst spring, as the water flows into the lake from a steeply descending tunnel, which has been explored to a depth of 160 m. The river Jezernica flows from Divje jezero, which is the shortest surface-flowing river in Slovenia, as it flows into the river Idrijca after only 55 meters. The lake is known for its trout, and human fish also live in the cave part.
3. After our cycling trip, we will return to the rooms where we will get ready and prepare for a late lunch, and even earlier we will learn how to make traditional Idrija žlikrofi in a local inn, where we will be served lunch.
4. After a late lunch, we will head to Ljubljana full of impressions along the side paths, where we will be able to enjoy admiring the nature and the beautiful views of the Idrija, Cerklje and Škofja Loka hills.

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?
To speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What is more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?
There are usually public parking spaces in the vicinity of our departure city points. However, sometimes it can be hard to find parking, so we recommend using public transportation services whenever possible.

When should I get to the departure point?
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can’t wait for you if you’re late.

What happens if I’m late or miss the tour?
If you’re late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.

What are your cancellation policies?
We have a cancellation period of 14 days for our one-day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we will give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge or 25€ (what is more). If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. What is a guaranteed departure?
Departure is guaranteed only if minimum number of participants stated next to each tour is reached. In case of cancellation of your booked tour, we will notify you at least 21 days before departure. In this case, you are entitled to a full refund.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?
Due to logistical reasons, we are unable to let you pre-book a seat. But our comfortable 9-seat vans have large windows. So, you will always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the vans?
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you will have regular comfort breaks.

How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?

Do you take children on your tours?
We regret we do not carry children under the age of 6 on our scheduled tours. Children up to 5,99 years are allowed only on a la carte tours.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.5 m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?
We want you to enjoy Slovenia. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the van and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?
You do not need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?
Let us be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it is up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?
Travel insurance is not included in the price. We advise you take out travel insurance.
