HIGHLIGHTS
The summer Art & Music festival is intended for all generations. It takes place in a relaxed atmosphere and offers a varied programme of music, film, multimedia, children’s and other events. Join us on this trip where you will take part in the festival, and at the same time discover the natural beauties at the confluence of the Tolminka and Soča rivers.
Itinerary
The bus will depart at 7am from Ljubljana or from an agreed place for groups. The journey begins with a drive towards Vrhnika and Logatec to the small town that brought word about Idrija lace to the world, and which represents an important part of Slovenian cultural heritage. The famous Idrija Lace School has been operating here continuously since 1876. We will visit the Renaissance castle, which in a way is unique among Slovenia’s numerous castles, as it is full of secrets and stories that it has been telling for 500 years. While taking a tour of the museum collection, you will listen to stories of the mine and the town of Idrija. You will also learn a lot about the hard everyday life of miners, whose lives were improved by the fact that their wives and daughters were able to produce snow-white Idrija lace in the shelter of their own homes, thus providing additional income.
Our journey continues onwards to the Soca river valley, where we will stop in the place where the emerald green river pauses briefly on its way from Trenta to the sea. The village of Most na Soči has a wealth of cultural and natural heritage, and its main attraction is the artificial accumulation lake, which maintains the same emerald green colour as the mysterious Soca river. We will take a stroll through the village then go for lunch at one of the local restaurants which specialises in preparing trout in numerous different ways.
A drive to Tolmin follows where you will settle into your overnight hotel accommodation and find out more about the Creative Camp programme. The itinerary includes: participation in the festival and overnight stay.
After breakfast you are free to visit the festival on your own, which combines various creative practices and experiences, of which music is the central focus. The boutique annual festival with its carefully selected multi-genre programme tries to satisfy the audience and create a refuge of creativity and diversity in a specific natural environment. It connects other types of creativity – film, multimedia, video, poetry, sculpture and performance, and creative workshops.
After the festival, we will return back to Ljubljana in the evening.
